2006.
That was the year I was introduced to internet radio/digital media. In those days you had 3 ways to broadcast a signal out to the world wide web. Broadcast through your iPod Buy Radio Broadcasting software Encode a link to send out a signal through your windows media player.

Podcasting was a "technical accident" that turned into a worldwide phenomenon. iPods already had the capacity to record content. It had the ability to have "wi-fi" on it to listen to music or talk radio from other websites. Once the iPod was able to playback what it recorded, then was able signal out over internet, podcasting started.

Purchasing broadcasting software is not cheap. It does professionalize the structure of how you would like to broadcast, yet, the software itself will guide users to get the most out of the usage of the software.

Windows Media Player was unique because when a user "broadcasts", it generated this long ridiculous link that you had to individually send to people or you can send in a mass email, however, there was no facebook, twitter at that time so other than having peoples' email addresses, sending out a link to a mass group of people was not easy at all even when MySpace was around at the time.

In Summary, Internet Radio/Digital Media has advanced where anyone can broadcast in different formats like youtube & Vimeo. More voices speaking into the black diaspora is outstanding. Just make sure whatever content you create on these platforms, make sure you have a way to record and save your work. Speaking the absolute truth, being able to hold on to your content to continue the ability having your voice heard.
